Stencilled Walls & Curtains

Remember when I talked about my mini bedroom refresher? And then I totally never followed up with it? Well-- I haven't totally blown it off. I just had to sit and think about what I was going to do for curtains for like 2 months. I have to sit on things for a long time. I'm not a quick decision maker. I have to stare at things and let it sink in. Ridiculous because it's curtains, right? Anyway, I finally figured out what to do. And I'll follow up with the whole project (really, I will), but I want to give you an idea of what's been my inspiration.

I've been a long time fan of Melanie Royal of Royal Design Studio. In fact, it was my very first blog post, as I was blown away by those stairs she did in Morocco. And being a lover of all things Moroccan, I couldn't stay away from all the interesting things she was up to at Peacock Pavilions. I mean how amazing is this:

Awesome Art: Nancy Ramirez

I'm always on the hunt for great art that isn't crazy expensive, but something that still feels like you didn't just buy it at Target. Nancy Ramirez's art is bright, fresh and graphic, with a personal touch. Like myself, she describes herself as a 'color fanatic'-- my kind of girl.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Her website links to a site where you can buy her prints-- it's a one stop shop. You can pick from several different papers, canvases, mattes and frames. I had fun playing with it and choosing different options. Hard to decide which one to put on my wish list!

Why did I not do this forever ago!? For years when I brainstormed on what magical thing I could do with my life, any ideas I came up with always involved kids or babies. Baby bibs, burp pads, custom onesies, play cafe-- many different ideas crossed my mind. When I started making Eco Throws, they got the stamp of approval because they were kid friendly-- they didn't have to be dry cleaned, and weren't too precious to let my kids have a picnic or build forts with them. And now that my kids are a bit older, I'm kind of already out of baby mode and didn't have it on my mind to make a mini version. Everything is cuter in the smaller size, right!? Well these guys are the same same as the originals, just smaller. Weighing in at 1 pound 6 ounces, and sized 30 inches by 40 inches-- they are the perfect size for baby AND toddlers. Totally washable. Totally stylish mom approved. You'll get no teddy bears and ducks here... sorry, not my thing. Here you'll find ikat, greek key and funky scallop patterns all in fun colors.

reclaimed wood shelves

I've been debating if I should exhibit at a trade show. Do I go to the New York International Gift Fair, or San Francisco International Gift Fair or at High Point Market? I'm still researching and deciding if it's worth the investment, but of course I'm jumping ahead and planning what my booth would look like. And of course I can't just do something simple like pre-made shelving, but need to make it difficult, and green by making my own reclaimed wood shelving unit.

I've been seeing this style around the blogosphere-- but can't really have them connected to the walls.

Love the casters--- and functional. But yikes-- $4,000!
